About Me

Welcome. I’m Dani, a mother of three, grandmother to one, and someone who has experienced grief in ways most of us hope to never face. I created The Grief After from lived experience, compassion, and a deep understanding of what families are asked to carry when loss arrives unexpectedly.

A Personal Journey Through Loss

Grief has been part of my life from a young age, but everything changed during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. Just six weeks after giving birth to my daughter, my father passed away suddenly while overseas due to a fatal heart attack caused by an undiagnosed condition. My father had served proudly in the military for over 24 years, and his sudden passing left my family shocked, grieving, and unprepared for the immediate decisions we had to make.

Navigating early postpartum recovery while helping organize my father’s repatriation was overwhelming. I learned firsthand how quickly grief can compound when families are left without guidance, resources, or a roadmap.

Years earlier, our family had faced heartbreak through my brother, who lost two daughters during pregnancy. Witnessing such profound loss underscored how unprepared families often are and how essential it is to have support and preparation in place. Tragically, four years after my father’s passing, my brother died suddenly from the same heart condition—one we didn’t know ran in our family until it was too late.

Why I Do This Work

Serving as executor for both my father’s and my brother’s estates showed me the stark difference preparation can make. My father’s outdated will and scattered information created long, stressful, and emotionally exhausting processes. My brother’s simple notes, even written on post-it notes, made a meaningful difference in managing grief practically.

This experience inspired The Grief After. I never want another family to feel as lost, burdened, or overwhelmed as mine did. Our mission is to provide resources, journals, and planners designed to hold the information that matters, honor the wishes of loved ones, and give families guidance when grief hits.

What We Offer

Our tools are not about fear or finality—they’re about care. Thoughtful preparation empowers families to:

Feel supported and guided during moments of loss

Make informed decisions without added stress

Preserve memories and honor wishes in a meaningful way

You don’t need to do everything at once. You just need a safe place to begin.

A Life of Learning and Compassion

Before dedicating my life to supporting families through grief and preparation, I had a career in marketing. But I realized I wanted more—more time with loved ones, more opportunities to create memories, and more ways to help others navigate life’s hardest moments. I’ve seen firsthand how preparation can bring peace amidst grief, and I’m committed to sharing that with families everywhere.

Whether you’re looking to plan, organize, or simply feel supported, The Grief After is here to help you every step of the way.
